You can start planning an Interrail trip for 2027 by choosing your route, travel days and budget, but do not treat a 2026 fare as a confirmed 2027 price. As of 2 October 2026, the checked HŽPP price list shows 2026 fares; the sources reviewed here do not provide a confirmed 2027 fare list. Use the older price only as a working estimate, then check the final price for your dates, age group and country of purchase before paying.
For example, the 2026 reference price for a second-class Global Pass with five travel days within one month is €318 for an adult, €239 for a traveller aged 12–27 and €286 for a traveller aged 60 or over. Reservations, accommodation, meals and local transport are extra. Check timetable release dates separately: Deutsche Bahn generally publishes its next annual timetable around mid-October, while other operators follow their own schedules.
What is known about Interrail in 2027
At the time of review, the Interrail Global Pass covers participating operators across 33 European countries. A Flexi Pass gives you a set number of travel days within its validity period; a continuous Pass allows travel every day for the selected period. The right option depends on how many days you will actually travel by train, not simply on how many cities are on your itinerary.
Sketch your 2027 route early, then confirm train times and seat availability as sales open. Deutsche Bahn says its new timetable period usually begins in mid-December and the following year's timetable is generally published around mid-October. This describes DB's service, not a single Europe-wide release date. If a train is not yet listed, that alone does not mean the route has been cancelled.
A Pass does not cover reservations or sleeper supplements where required, accommodation or most local transport. A Global Pass generally allows one outbound and one inbound travel day in your country of residence. Other domestic journeys there require a separate ticket.
Since September 2026, customers in Europe and elsewhere use the shared Interrail brand instead of the former Interrail and Eurail labels. For a 2027 trip, check the current Pass terms and seller rather than relying on an older brand name in a page or price list.
Choosing a Pass for your route
First count the countries in your itinerary. A Global Pass is intended for travel across two or more countries or for a route that may change. A One Country Pass covers eligible rail journeys within one country; travel to and from that country is not included. It cannot be used as a ticket for travel within your country of residence.
Next, mark the days when you will travel between cities. One travel day runs from midnight to 23:59 local time. Several trains and connections on that date generally use one travel day, not one day per leg. For overnight trains, check the rules for departure date, arrival and any connection after midnight.
Compare a Flexi Pass with a continuous Pass. For a two-week trip with five rail-transfer days, a Flexi Pass may fit better. If you expect to travel almost every day, compare the cost of the required travel days with a continuous option. Check that the chosen product and its conditions are available for your start date.
Select the class and age category for each traveller. Interrail offers free Child Pass conditions for some children travelling with an eligible Pass holder; check the age limits, number of children and booking requirements before purchase. Calculate each person's fare separately.
Using prices for an initial budget
There is no single useful “2027 trip price”: the cost depends on Pass type and duration, class, age, currency, seller and current offer. The table below gives the latest 2026 fare list found during the review on 2 October 2026. It indicates the scale of the cost, not an offer or confirmed 2027 tariff.
Latest checked reference fares: 2026 Global Pass
| Pass duration | Adult, 28–59 | Youth, 12–27 | Senior, 60+ |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 days within 1 month | €283 | €212 | €255 |
| 5 days within 1 month | €318 | €239 | €286 |
| 7 days within 1 month | €381 | €286 | €343 |
| 10 days within 2 months | €447 | €335 | €402 |
The adult fare applies to ages 28–59, the Youth fare to ages 12–27, and the Senior fare to travellers aged 60 or over. The official site may show another currency or a different amount because of the seller or a current promotion. Before paying, select the Pass, country of residence, class and duration, then note the final price and refund terms.
Do not add an invented “average reservation fee” to the table. Reservation costs vary by train and route. Interrail says many reservations can be booked three to six months ahead, and some high-speed and night trains limit the number of seats available to Pass holders. Estimate 2027 reservation costs using your actual trains once sales open.
Interrail Pass or separate tickets
Interrail is not always cheaper. Compare the same dates and route in two ways: the Pass plus required reservations and supplements, or the total price of individual tickets for every rail leg. Advance tickets may have stricter change conditions; a Pass can be more valuable when you want flexibility on trains that do not require a reservation.
Two ways to pay for rail travel
| What to compare | Interrail Pass | Individual tickets |
|---|---|---|
| Rail cost | Pass price plus required reservations and supplements | Total price of tickets for every leg |
| Changing plans | More flexible on trains without mandatory reservations; reserved trains follow reservation terms | Discount fares are often tied to a specific train and may restrict refunds |
| When to check | After you know the number of travel days and trains | When the operator opens sales for your dates |
| Other costs | Reservations, supplements and travel in your country of residence | Baggage, local transport and connection terms for your tickets |

For a sample itinerary, you might map Berlin–Prague–Vienna–Budapest–Munich. This illustrates the calculation, not a confirmed timetable: check actual trains and connections for your 2027 dates. Two rail legs on the same date may use one travel day, but any required reservations are still charged separately.
For popular services, check both the seat price and the availability of the Pass-holder quota. If those seats sell out, you may need another train or a regular ticket. Where the rules require it, carry the Pass and the separate reservation together.
Building a budget for a 2027 trip
Calculate costs for each traveller and list shared expenses separately. Until a 2027 Pass fare is confirmed, mark that line “check at purchase” and enter the checkout price before making your decision. The 2026 reference can help you start, but do not include it as a confirmed final amount.
Rail cost = Pass or individual tickets + reservations and supplements + tickets for legs outside the Pass network.
Then add accommodation for every night, travel to the first and from the last station, local transport, baggage, meals, insurance and a contingency. A night train may replace a hotel night, but a sleeper berth often costs extra. Multiply individual costs by the number of travellers; split accommodation and other shared expenses only among the people using them.

Record the currency, date checked, source and refund terms beside every amount. This matters when some tickets are not yet on sale or prices depend on availability. Once operators publish their 2027 timetables, update the calculation and compare the Pass with the full cost of separate tickets.
When to check timetables and book reservations
A planning calendar for a 2027 trip
| When | What to do | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Autumn 2026 | Draft the route, nights and budget; watch for the next timetable period. | DB usually opens sales with its new timetable around mid-October. This is a DB guide, not a Europe-wide date. |
| 3–6 months before travel | Check seat reservations for the trains and night services you need. | Many reservation windows fall in this range, but operators set their own dates. |
| Before paying | Compare the current Pass price with separate tickets for identical dates and legs. | Age category, currency, refund terms, mandatory reservations and Pass-holder seat availability. |
| Before departure | Refresh the timetable and save the required tickets and confirmations. | Platform changes, connections, engineering works and train-specific rules. |
DB says the next timetable period is generally published around mid-October, when DB ticket sales open. That does not mean every international leg is already available: DB booking windows differ by country, and other operators release seats separately. DB currently lists windows of up to 12 months for Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Switzerland, up to six months for several other countries, and different limits for France. Check the relevant country and operator instead of applying the longest window to your whole route.
Interrail reservations have a similar but not identical window: many open three to six months before travel. In peak season and around holidays, the Pass-holder quota may sell out earlier. If a particular train matters, find out when its reservations open and prepare an alternative. If flexibility matters more, plan several possible departures.
Preparing a mobile Pass
After purchase, add the Pass to Rail Planner using your order details, connect it to a trip and activate it with the correct start date. Activation must be complete before you board your first train. Create a ticket for each travel day in the app and add the journeys before departure. For a train requiring a reservation, keep its separate confirmation ready too.
Bring the identity document linked to your Pass and check that its details match the app. Interrail says a mobile Pass must be used on a phone that supports the app and needs an internet connection at least once every 24 hours for inspection. Update the app and make sure you can access the Pass before travel, not while rushing to the platform.
Interrail says a regular Pass can generally be activated within 11 months of purchase; promotional offers may have different deadlines. Before buying early, check the activation date, refund conditions and whether the validity period suits your 2027 trip.
Frequently asked questions
How much will Interrail cost in 2027?
As of 2 October 2026, the sources checked did not show a separate confirmed 2027 Interrail fare list. Use 2026 fares only for an initial estimate. Before purchase, check the final price for your Pass, age category, currency and seller conditions.
When will 2027 train tickets go on sale?
Deutsche Bahn generally publishes its next annual timetable around mid-October, but exact dates depend on the operator and country. Many Interrail reservations open three to six months before travel. Check each leg separately.
How can I tell whether a Pass is worth it?
Add the Pass price and every reservation, then compare the result with individual tickets for the same legs, dates, class and travellers. Consider refund terms and the value of flexibility as well as the total.
Do reservations cost extra?
Usually, yes. Reservations on trains where they are mandatory or recommended are generally paid separately, and the fee depends on the route and operator. For 2027, check the exact train, Pass-holder availability and final cost before paying.
Can I use a Global Pass in my country of residence?
Generally, a Global Pass covers one travel day for an outbound journey and one for a return journey in your country of residence. Other domestic journeys require separate tickets. Check the current rules and carry proof of your country of residence.
What if my train is not listed yet?
Check whether the operator has released the timetable for that period. DB's new annual timetable usually appears around mid-October, while other operators may publish later. Do not buy connecting tickets based on an unconfirmed connection time.
