For winter 2026/27, choose your dates and actual ski days first, then compare terrain, access and pass prices. For the same period, 30 January to 26 February 2027, an adult five-days-within-seven pass costs €382 at SkiWelt and €431.50 for Sölden’s Ötztal Super Skipass. For two adults, that is a €99 difference in lift passes alone. Other trip costs are separate.

The comparison uses resort prices checked on 2 October 2026. It is not a ranking of the cheapest Alpine resorts: pass coverage differs, and accommodation and transport can outweigh the pass price.

Choose a resort for your group and skill level

Trail kilometres help with an initial shortlist, but do not tell you whether a resort suits your group. Check who is travelling, how many days everyone will ski, which runs match their ability, and how difficult the last leg from the station or car park will be.

If you are learning to ski

Beginners should look for a gentle learning area, an easy-to-use lift and a ski school that accepts the right ages. Sölden sells beginner-area tickets, but they cover only specified practice lifts, not the whole resort. Check the lift list and boundaries before buying. If lessons will keep you on the learner slope, price those lessons and a local pass separately.

If you are travelling with children or mixed abilities

Check the 2026/27 age bands for child and youth fares; the birth year may matter more than age on purchase day. Confirm lesson times, meeting point and whether a parent needs a separate pass. For mixed abilities, agree on meeting points and make sure both groups can reach them without buying another lift ticket.

For a weekend or a full week

Count ski days, not nights. With a rest day or a late arrival, a flexible five-days-within-seven pass may suit you better than six consecutive days. Check where each pass is valid and include the final transfer, ski-bus stop, parking and luggage for your own equipment. Remote lodging is cheaper only if transport and time do not erase the saving.

Ski pass prices for 2026/27

The common comparison window is 30 January to 26 February 2027. SkiWelt classifies it as premium season; Sölden uses its peak-season rate. Prices below are adult fares in euros. Sölden’s figures are ticket-office rates; online prices may be lower depending on when you buy.

SkiWelt, premium seasonSkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental: 275 km of runs and 81 lifts€79.50€382.00€413.50
Sölden, Ötztal Super Skipass, peak seasonFor 3+ days: open ski areas across the Ötztal valley; up to 2 days: Sölden only€86.50*€431.50€478.50

Sölden’s one-day ticket covers the resort itself. From three days, the Ötztal Super Skipass covers the open ski areas across the Ötztal valley; tickets of up to two days remain limited to Sölden. SkiWelt lists 275 km of runs and 81 lifts. Sölden’s six-day valley pass covers six areas and 363 km in total, according to the operator. These are different products, so compare the terrain you will actually use.

SkiWelt’s lower-price season includes 5–18 December 2026 and 13–29 March 2027; its premium tariff runs from 19 December to 12 March. Sölden has its own low, high and peak dates. Check the calendar for the exact ticket before paying, as adjacent weeks can have different rates.

Calculate the full cost of the trip

Add all required costs for your exact dates. Divide a room or car total between travellers only after confirming it is a group price, not a per-person amount. Keep children’s passes, lessons and rentals as separate line items because they do not split like lodging.

Rental quotes should cover the full kit for every ski day. Ask whether boots, poles, helmet, storage and servicing are included, and compare a package with separate items if you already own some equipment. For lessons, record the number of sessions and students rather than relying on an advertised starting price.

A worked example for two adults

For seven nights and five ski days between 30 January and 26 February 2027, the published five-days-within-seven adult pass is €382 at SkiWelt, or €764 for two. Sölden’s five-day Ötztal Super Skipass is €431.50 per adult, or €863 for two. The €99 difference covers passes only, not the trip.

To get the total, add seven nights of lodging, return travel, local transfers, rentals or equipment transport, lessons, food, insurance, local taxes and a reserve. Recalculate for your dates and group; divide only genuinely shared expenses.

When and where you can save

SkiWelt’s SuperSkiWochen run 5–18 December 2026 and 13–29 March 2027. The published six-day adult pass is €310 when bought online at least one day before skiing. FamilySkiWochen run in the same periods; children born from 2011 to 2020 may qualify for a free pass if the offer conditions are met, including a qualifying pass bought by a parent or grandparent. Check exclusions and do not combine discounts unless checkout confirms it.

Sölden publishes seasonal rates and says early online tickets can cost less than buying at the ticket office. Compare the final price for your first ski day, check the purchase deadline and cancellation terms, and remember that dynamic prices can change.

Do not trade away safe access for a lower room rate. By car, include the full route, parking and ski equipment; by train, include the last connection and baggage. A place farther from the lifts is a saving only after adding local transport and travel time.

When a package deal is worth comparing

Ötztal Tourismus lists a four-night package with a three-day Ötztal Super Skipass from €489, and a seven-night package with a five-days-within-seven pass plus two admissions from €849. These Ski Start Deals are for 18 November to 13 December 2026; the final price depends on dates and lodging. Travel to the valley, rental, meals and insurance are extra. The operator says the local ski bus is free with a valid pass, subject to its terms.

Compare a package with separate bookings for identical dates, guest numbers and lodging type. Check whether the pass covers three consecutive days or lets you choose five days within seven. A headline “from” price is not a like-for-like total.

Plan and book in this order

Before paying, confirm the exact dates, group, ski days, suitable lift areas, lodging terms, transport, rental and insurance. Save the quote, source link, checked date and cancellation rules. Recheck lifts, open runs, transfers and the local forecast shortly before departure.

  1. Set the trip format. Note the group size, children’s ages, ability levels, ski days and travel days.
  2. Choose ski areas. Use the official trail map to check runs, learning zones and lifts covered by the ticket.
  3. Check the fare calendar. Match the exact dates, season, pass length and online terms; compare five-of-seven with consecutive days.
  4. Compare travel and lodging together. Include the last leg to the accommodation, local tax, cleaning, deposit and cancellation terms.
  5. Add rental, lessons and meals. Request quotes for your dates and group; do not reuse last year’s or another age band’s price.
  6. Check insurance. EHIC gives access to necessary state healthcare under the host country’s rules, but does not cover mountain rescue or repatriation. Check winter-sports cover separately.
  7. Save the evidence. Keep the quote, link, checked date and refund terms; recheck lifts, runs, transfers and weather before leaving.

Questions and answers

Which is cheaper for skiing, SkiWelt or Sölden?

For the dates compared, the adult five-days-within-seven pass is €382 at SkiWelt and €431.50 for Sölden’s valley pass. That is not a full-trip comparison: terrain, lodging and travel differ.

Which pass suits a week-long stay?

Count ski days. If you plan five days on snow and a rest day, five within seven may fit better than six consecutive days. Check when validity starts and whether days are flexible.

Is there a cheaper pass for beginners?

Some resorts sell learning-area tickets. Sölden’s beginner ticket is limited to listed practice lifts, not the whole resort; confirm the zone on the official page.

Does the package starting at €849 cover the whole trip?

No. It is a starting package price for seven nights, a five-days-within-seven pass and two admissions. Travel to the resort, rental, food and insurance are extra; lodging and dates affect the final price.

When are passes cheaper?

SkiWelt has lower-season dates and SuperSkiWochen in early December and the second half of March. Sölden uses a separate low, high and peak calendar. Check the full date range before buying.

Is EHIC enough for a ski trip in the EU?

No. EHIC does not cover mountain rescue or getting you home. Check that your travel policy explicitly covers winter sports and rescue on the slopes.
